Mom & Dad
Paul is still working at Norfolk Naval Ship Yard in the
Radiological Control Dep't.  He was recently presented with the
opportunity to become an instructor, which gives him a steady
9-5 type job Monday thru Friday.  Personally, I LOVE it!! :) I'll
take 9-5 M-F any day over 6-6 Sun thru Sat!!
He really loves his job, especially being in training.  After the
earthquake in Japan this year, he was one of the people who
went over there to help with the problems they were having
with their nuclear plant.  Some of our family members were
concerned for his safety, but he kept telling me, "Honey, it's
what I'm trained for."  So he went, had the experience, and
came home.  And no, he wasn't glowing when he got off the
plane. ;)
And while my honeybun is flying all over the world saving us
all from
impending nuclear disasters, I have begun a new
chapter in my life.  In April this year, I enrolled in a course to
become a midwife.  The course is scheduled to be a maximum
3½ yrs, but I am already ahead of schedule and hope to finish
early.  I looked into a couple different ones and found AAMI to
be the best.  So that's the one I chose.  And yes, when I'm
finished, I will be an authentic midwife.  I'm excited about
continuing my education and can't wait to be of service to the
women I love.  My big plan isn't to have a clinic with babies
being born regularly.  In fact, I don't want a clinic at all.  I'm
more about just being available to help educate and empower
women to trust birth and trust their bodies to do what they were
designed to do-- which is give birth.
As Carla says, "Birth is
safe.  Interference is risky."
